Who We Are

About Us

Christine Craig

Founder of Women in the Pause.

Like many women, I didn’t see perimenopause coming. What I did feel was emotional whiplash, relentless exhaustion, and nights so sleepless that I worried about my marriage, my work, and frankly—my sanity. When I reached out for help, I was met with confusion, dismissal, and vague reassurance that what I was experiencing was “normal.”

Normal didn’t feel acceptable.

After countless conversations with physicians, nurse practitioners, and specialists—and far too many late nights searching for answers—I realized the problem wasn’t me. It was the system. Women are routinely underprepared, undereducated, and underserved during one of the most biologically significant transitions of their lives.

Women in the Pause was created to change that.

This is a space for real conversations about perimenopause and menopause—what’s happening in your body, why it feels so disruptive, and what actually helps. We focus on evidence-based education, expert guidance, and shared experience—without shame, hype, or misinformation. My goal is simple: to help women understand what’s happening, feel less alone, and regain a sense of control during this stage of life.

Before founding Women in the Pause, I spent over two decades working in healthcare strategy and consulting, partnering with hospitals, health systems, and physician organizations across the country. I understand how healthcare works—and where it breaks down. I bring that same clarity, curiosity, and rigor to women’s midlife health.

You deserve more than being told to “push through.”
You deserve answers, support, and the confidence to thrive in the life you’ve built.

Kim Slimak

Co Founder of Women in the Pause.

I co-founded Women in the Pause because I kept having the same conversations over and over again with my friends. We were all asking the same questions. What is happening to my body? Is this perimenopause? Should I be taking hormones? Why do I feel so off? How do I explain this to my spouse?

It became clear to me that so many women are walking through this season feeling confused, frustrated, exhausted, and honestly a little alone. The information can feel overwhelming. The symptoms can feel isolating. And too often, we just try to push through it quietly. I didn’t want that to be the norm.

In my work at SteerPoint, I have spent years helping organizations build strong brands and meaningful communities. I believe deeply in the power of connection. So I used that same passion for community building to help create something personal and purposeful.

Women in the Pause is designed to be both educational and uplifting. I wanted a space that felt safe, real, and even fun. A place where we can gather, learn from trusted experts, ask the questions we are almost afraid to say out loud, and build friendships with women who truly get it.

This stage of life is powerful. We deserve to walk through it informed, supported, and connected. My hope is that Women in the Pause becomes a community where no one feels alone in this chapter and where we can learn, laugh, and grow together.
